How to Calculate Cement and Sand Quantity for Plastering

Hello Engineers, Today we will Calculate Cement and Sand Quantity for plastering work. Before calculation, We should be know some values that’s given bellow :-

Note:- Point Should Be Know, Before Estimating Mortar Calculation for Plastering work

Density of Cement1440 kg/m3
Density of Sand1450-1550 kg/m3
How many kg in 1 bag of cement50kg
Volume of one cement bag in litres34.4722 litres
One Bag of cement in cubic metres0.0347 cubic meter
How many Cubic Feet (CFT)1.226 CFT
Numbers of Bags in one cubic metre cement29 bags approx.
Specific gravity of cement3.5
Grade of cement33, 43, 53

We take a wall that’s

Area of brick wall for plaster = 3m x 3m = 9m2

Calculate Cement and Sand Quantity
Wall size 3m x 3m

Thickness of Plaster = 12mm (Inner Plaster) = 0.012m

Volume of mortar = 9m2 x 0.012m = 0.108m3

Ratio for Plaster = 1:6

Sum of ratio = 7

Cement Calculation of mortar

Volume ( Dry Volume of Mortar ) = 0.108 x 1.35 = 0.1458 m3

Cement = cement part / sum of ratio x Cement Volume ( Dry Volume of Mortar )

Cement= (1/7) x 0.1458 = 0.0208 m3

Cement = 0.0208 x 1440 (Density of Cement is 1440/m3)

Cement = 29.99 kg

A wall that dimensions 3mtr x 3mtr and 12 mm thickness of plaster require 29.99 kg cement.

If you want know quantity in bags, Than we know in one bag quantity is 50 kg

(29.99/50) = 0.599 Bags

Sand Calculation of mortar

Volume of Sand = (6/7) x 0.1458

Volume of Sand= 0.124m3

Sand = 0.0208 x 1450 (Density of Sand is 1450/m3)

Sand = 181.2 kg

A wall that dimensions 3mtr x 3mtr and 12 mm thickness of plaster require 181.2 kg sand.

Important Point :- The value of various materials like cement, sand, aggregates can be different, but its will a minor difference because density can be change according to zones of all over world. But standard formulas explained in this article.
